About Jocotours
Jocotours is an ecotourism operator that promotes birdwatching in Ecuador, offering a wide assortment of bird observation and nature tours, supporting at the same time conservation projects carried out by Jocotoco Foundation. Jocotoco’s reserves protect 800 bird species, of which more than 100 have limited distribution ranges (are endemic), and more than 50 species are globally threatened. Furthermore, some large mammals species are also recorded, including Spectacled Bear, Andean Tapir, and Jaguar.

The new travelers’ trend is to schedule their itineraries according to their own interests. Thus, we are flexible in arranging tailored tours for our visitors. We offer not only lodging, but also unique experiences--moments that will challenge the way you see and understand the world. These tours are designed to fulfill your needs and surpass your expectations. Tours can be arranged according to your interests, time and budget. These tours might be shared. In these tours, you will be able to arrange your own schedule, choosing your preferred destinations and the length of your visit.

Lodging
Jocotours offers its visitors first-class lodging in restful cabins and rooms equipped with private baths and hot water; our menus are astounding and very nutritious, prepared with the highest sanitary standards by local people we have trained. You will be able to get deep into wild places during your walks through forest trails, observe many bird species, watch other fauna and flora, and more. Our lodges include lodging, food, and reserve entrance services that we offer in all our lodges.

Casa Simpson - Tapichalaca Reserve
Zamora Chinchipe Province
Casa Simpson lodge is placed in a breathtaking environment, at 2500 m elevation, at a lookout point facing Cerro Tapichalaca, in the eastern Andean slope. It has a large network of trails through high Andean forests, home of many rare and beautiful birds along with astonishing plant diversity, primarily orchids. Our guests will enjoy our comfortable and functional environments. The lodge is built in local materials. It has seven rooms with private bathrooms, a spacious restaurant, and a resting area beside a chimney. Fifteen people can be comfortably roomed. Further, we have a separate cabin for researchers. Umbrellabird Lodge - Buenaventura Reserve
El Oro Province, near the town of Piñas
This excellent and easily accessible lodge is settled in the lower portion of Buenaventura Reserve, at 500 m altitude. It has five pleasing cabins with private bathrooms, ideal for housing up to 14 people, along with an open restaurant where you will enjoy watching hummingbirds zooming in and out of feeders. See chachalacas and tanagers feeding at fruit while sipping a coffee, or simply relax reading some of our reference books while coatis roam around the area. Click here for more information.

Urraca Lodge - Jorupe Reserve
Near Macará City in the province of Loja
The Urraca Lodge is settled in Jorupe Reserve, a few km northeast of Macará City, close to the border between Ecuador and Peru, at 500 m elevation. It has six luxurious cabins, specially designed for your relaxation. They are built within forested land, surrounded by gigantic kapok (or ceiba) trees. Social areas include an open and bright restaurant-bar--the best in the entire region, from where numerous fauna and flora species, endemic and rare, can be seen. This includes a wealth of dry forest specialized and globally threatened birds like the Henna-hooded Foliage-gleaner. Canandé Lodge - Río Canandé Reserve
Esmeraldas Province, two hours from the town of Pedro Vicente Maldonado
Canandé Lodge is an ecological forest hotel located in the tropical rainforest of the Choco Region in the province of Esmeraldas. It is settled at 300 m elevation in one of the wettest regions of Ecuador. Three primate species are regularly observed, along with many threatened and range-restricted birds. The Lodge, equipped with four comfy rooms with private bathrooms, is available year round for our guests. An excellent restaurant amidst tropical rainforest highlights the Lodge’s social area.
